About Let’s Start EARLY

 

 

Let’s Start EARLY was founded in 2025 by Mayland Learn, a young girl with a big heart and an even bigger mission. When Mayland was just five years old, she lost her father to drug addiction—a tragedy that changed her life forever. While most children her age were learning to ride bikes or read bedtime stories, Mayland was learning about grief, loss, and the devastating impact of substance abuse.

 

But instead of letting that pain silence her, she chose to speak up—for herself and for others.

 

The idea for Let’s Start EARLY—Ending Addiction: Resources and Learning for Youth—came when Mayland volunteered to help teach a drug awareness lesson in an elementary classroom. The content was outdated, the language didn’t resonate, and the kids were clearly disengaged. What shocked her even more was learning that the school district had paid for that curriculum.

 

That’s when she realized something had to change.

 

Mayland set out to build something different: a program that speaks to children in a voice they understand. Something fun, meaningful, and most of all—free. Let’s Start EARLY provides modern, age-appropriate drug education materials that empower students, support teachers, and don’t put a financial burden on schools.

 

We believe that prevention starts with education, and education should be engaging, relatable, and accessible to everyone. Through stories, coloring sheets, skits, comics, and classroom activities, Let’s Start EARLY reaches kids with messages that matter—before it’s too late.

 

This organization is more than a nonprofit.

It’s a promise to honor Mayland’s father by making sure his story saves others.

It’s a promise that no child will be left behind because the lesson was too outdated or too expensive.

It’s a promise that it’s never too early to start.
